Inspired by Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey, Sarah Kirkland Snider’s Penelope is a meditation on memory, identity, and what it means to come home.
The weekend opens with a Friday night concert (Genre Lines: Opening Concert), followed by a full day Saturday of talks, performances, presentations, and a keynote by Wadada Leo Smith, before concluding with Saturday evening’s concert, featuring James Falzone on clarinet, followed by Sarah Kirkland Snider’s song cycle "Penelope" (Genre Lines: Music of James Falzone & Sarah Kirkland Snider.)

Composer, performer, and multimedia artist Jordan Munson comes to the Nief-Norf Knoxville Concert Series on May 10, 2019 to delight listeners with his signature expansive blending of chamber-esque references with numerous experimental elements. Seth Colter Walls of The New York Times writes “[Munson’s] pieces merge acoustic melody and electronic rhythm with thrilling purpose.”

Nief-Norf returns to the Big Ears stage in 2019. Big Ears 2019 leads with a network of vital musicians and legendary innovators working across multiple genres, from rock ’n’ roll and free jazz to classical composition and dance music.
Nief-Norf Knoxville Concert Series featuring Allison Adams, saxophone. Adams is Assistant Professor of Saxophone at UT and will be joined by Andy Bliss, percussion and Andrea Lodge, piano.
